What is Belotero Balance®?
Diminish fine lines and wrinkles with BELOTERO BALANCE® from San Diego Global Laser Cosmetics! Belotero Balance is the most recent FDA approved prescription injectable. This dermal filler temporarily smooths out and fills in moderate fine lines and may be used for severe wrinkles and nasolabial folds (the lines that form on the side of the month and go up to the nose). Belotero filler is made from a substance that is a natural part of your skin’s structure, this substance is called hyaluronic acid.
Who is a good candidate for Belotero Balance®?
Patients who want to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and gain a more youthful, fresh appearance are great candidates for Belotero filler. Patients who should receive this injectable are patients that have, or have had a history of severe or several allergies, as well as a history of anaphylaxis. This injectable filler may not be used on people with allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins.
What should one expect from this filler?
Before receiving Belotero filler patients will choose a specific treatment. When it comes to Belotero injections there are three different preparations to choose from for your individual treatment sessions. Two of the options are Belotero Basic and Belotero Intense. Both injection treatments are used for filling deep wrinkles and fine lines, as well as enhancing facial areas such as cheeks as well as for volumizing lips. Dr. Yaghouti, or one of our experienced nurses, will inject Belotero into the deepest layers of the skin, so that results are naturally noticeable and changes are visible. The third treatment option is referred to as Belotero Soft which is made for fine lines, and superficial wrinkles such as crow’s feet. This specific injection is injected into the outermost layers of the skin for a softer look with softer results.
How long does the injection process take?
The injection process of Belotero takes about half an hour. Dr. Yaghouti, or one of our experienced nurses, will first clean and sterilize the skin and then carefully inject a thin needle into the necessary facial areas. Every patient is different and the amount and placement of injections depends on the wants and needs of the patient being treated. After the injection has been delivered, patients may leave the office and continue with their daily activities with little to no down time.
What are the most common side effects?
The most common local side effects seen with Belotero filler are swelling, bruising, redness, hardening of the skin, pain, altered color or itching. Other side effects that have occurred with Belotero Balance include headache, swelling of the side of the nose, moderate cold sore, lip numbness and lip dryness. Side effects were often mild to moderate and often resolved within 7 days.
Does it require downtime?
Belotero requires little to no downtime after injections have been given. In fact, a majority of our Global Laser Cosmetics patients return to their normal social activities immediately after their injection appointment. After your treatment, patients will experience some minor swelling, redness and bruising that may last up to a week. However, products such as makeup may be applied and can help in covering these effects. The results of Belotero injections are noticeable immediately after treatment session and can last anywhere from six months to a year. Over time, the injected gel is naturally broken down by the body and the wrinkles will reappear and your next injection session will be needed.
