Laser Hair Removal Pre And Post Care Instructions

PRE-TREATMENT CARE

Before your first treatment, please schedule a Free Consultation so that we can discuss the treatment, answer your questions, and ensure you are a good candidate for the treatment.
DO NOT wax, tweeze/pluck, epilate, sugar, or use any method that pulls hair from the follicle the area to be treated for 3-4 weeks prior to treatment.
DO NOT tan area by natural sunlight or tanning beds, spray tan, or use sunless tanner on the area to be treated within the week prior to treatment. For exposed areas, such as the face or legs, wear a minimum of SPF 15 when the area is exposed to sun/UV (for face, this is recommended everyday rain or shine)
DO shave body hair bare to the skin on the day prior to treatment.
-For the face, you MAY bleach or use depilatory cream one week prior to treatment. DO NOT use these chemicals within the 5 days prior to your treatment.
If you opt for topical numbing cream (highly recommended), apply cream to the treated area one hour prior to treatment. Allow it to absorb and then wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment. Please wash your hands thoroughly after use or wear gloves.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time and ask your RN any questions you have regarding the treatment.

Your RN will apply hydrocortisone cream to the area to calm redness or irritation. If you experience redness, itching, or tenderness in the area, you may apply 1% hydrocortisone to the area. This can be found at any drugstore. If symptoms persist more than 4 days, please call our office at (619) 243-2444.
You MAY continue shaving the area the day after treatment. Wait 4-5 days before bleaching or using depilatory creams.
DO NOT expose the treated area to UV radiation (sunlight or tanning beds). You may apply sunless tanner or spray tan.
The hair follicles that were treated by the laser will fall out over the next few weeks. It may take up to 3 weeks for these to work their way through the skin’s surface. Let them fall out naturally without tweezing or pulling. You MAY shave as often as you would like between treatments.
Wait 6 weeks to return to the office for your next treatment. Enjoy finer, thinner, reduced amounts of hair!
