These dermal fillers, provide shape and contour to different areas of the face, including enhancements to the lips. These soft tissue fillers are injected underneath the skin, and may be injected straight into the skin to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers, in comparison to Botox, work in a different way to shape and contour the face. Botox relaxes and paralyzes the facial muscles, while dermal fillers fill and volumize certain areas of the skin and can use dermal fillers for acne scars.

Dermal fillers, also known as soft tissue fillers, fill in the area of the face where skin has become furrowed or wrinkled, or where the face has lost fullness. Also, dermal fillers for acne scars can be used to fill in the space left damaged.

Global Laser Cosmetics uses two types of dermal fillers to fill in furrows, fine lines and wrinkles and any area where volume has been lost:

Bio-Stimulatory Soft Tissue Fillers:

Bio-stimulatory dermal fillers are special polymers that are obtained from substances that provoke minimal inflammatory response from the body after injection. This results in increased collagen production, which provides a platform of support and enhancement in volume loss, furrows and lines.

Dermal filler or soft tissue filler gels are of smooth consistency made of hyaluronic acid or bio-stmulatory, which are natural sugar gels injected into the skin that help add hydration and volume. Dr. Yaghouti, or one of our registered nurses, will inject the gel under your skin to restore its volume and help smooth away facial folds and wrinkles.

  • Sculptra® is a polymer, which is a form of a natural sugar particle. This acid is commonly used in surgeries to dissolve suture material. As time passes, the polygalactic acid stimulates the creation of collagen that can provide added volume as well as wrinkle correction and smoothen unwanted lines.

Hyaluronic Acid Gels (Sugar Gels) in Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid gels are the most frequently used soft tissue filler/injectable. These gels are very commonly used as they are made of several, tiny cross-linked sugar molecules that make up human cells, so when injected into the face the gels are not seen by the body as foreign, rather they are seen as recognizable human cells.
The hyaluronic acid sugar gels possess certain characteristics that makes them long-lasting. There are variations of hyaluronic sugar gels, each with its own indications and specific properties within the face, hands and body. The most widely injected hyluronic acid gels at Global Laser Cosmetics include:

• Juvederm UltraPlusJuvéderm® Voluma™
• Perlane®
• Restylane®

Each sugar gel has different uses for each areas of your face. At Global Laser Cosmetics, Dr. Yaghouti will decide which combination of dermal fillers to use in order to achieve the best youthful look, based upon your specific needs. He can also use dermal fillers for acne scars.

Who is an ideal candidate for soft tissue fillers/dermal fillers?

All those who have wrinkles, fine lines, loss of facial volume or furrows could be considered good candidates. Soft tissue fillers can add noticeable volume and contour improvements, resulting in softening furrows and deep lines. A patient who would not be considered a good candidate includes someone who is pregnant, has cancerous or infected lesion/lesions in the area that is being injected, or who have reacted to soft tissue filler in the past.

Which injectable gel is used during a dermal filler injection?

The injectables listed above, Juvéderm® Voluma™ and Juvéderm® Plus™, Restylane®, and the bio-stimulatories Sculptra® may all be used in the soft tissue filler procedure.

How does the process of dermal filler injections feel?

Commonly, all minimally invasive medical-based anesthetic injections/procedures, such as Pearl FractionalBOTOX®laser hair removal and chemical peels have a small level of discomfort. Many patients refer to soft tissue fillers as a small pinch with a little bit of pressure.

About how long does the dermal filler process take?

The entire procedure takes between 20-60 minutes and the length depends on the areas treated, amount of products required and products used. Come in to see what the best dermal filler is for you!

Is there downtime involved with dermal fillers and soft tissue fillers?

The downtime depends on the patient, the amount of product used, the area being injected, and the kind of injection. Also, certain patient factors may determine downtime, such as use or prior use of specific medications.

How long will soft tissue and best dermal filler enhancements last?

The enhancements achieved by dermal fillers are expected to last up to a year or longer, and the enhancements are very natural and subtle. The lasting results of the treatment rests upon the age of the patient, the specific filler being used, the amount being injected and the areas of the injection site. If the product being injected is Juvederm Voluma®, the results can last up to two years. However, the results on areas that are actively moving, such as smile lines and lips, may be less likely to last as long as the temples, the jawline and cheeks.

What maintenance is needed to keep the results of soft tissue dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are normally a single injection procedure process that helps to achieve volume and a more youthful appearance. Dr. Yaghouti has his patients return to Global Laser Cosmetics two to three weeks after their treatment, in order to assess the patients and see if any enhancements need to be performed. Once their ideal volume and contour has been reached, further maintenance is not required. Patients can enjoy the results of soft tissue filler and further injections will only be required after deflation starts to occur.

Is there a possibility that dermal fillers and soft tissue fillers might shift?

There are many common misconception about soft filler tissue and dermal fillers, and one of them is the concern of the soft tissue fillers shifting themselves. The new microcannula technique is used to avoid shifting, the soft tissue filler is gently injected into multiple small soft tissue pathways formed with the help of blunt cannula (an exceptionally small opening). The body’s host tissue immediately envelop these little sugar gel toothpicks and it’s almost impossible for soft tissue dermal filler to then drift significantly throughout the facial structure. At Global Laser Cosmetics we offer the best dermal filler.
